Help for Timetable Information Overview Our timetable information system is very user-friendly due to the integration of interactive maps into the forms of the information system. You can type start and destination or select the points on the map. The information is directly transfered between forms and maps - in both directions. You can print maps and text information together. For the walk between an address and a station/busstop, there is a detailed description available including streetnames and walking distances for each street. Functionalities of the maps A click on the button 'Map' opens a map window at different places in the system. The size of the map differs: It shows either the area of a city (if you haven't yet specified a station) or presents the entire route of a trip or shows the surrounding of a station or shows the walking part of the trip. A click into the map with the left mousebutton opens a menu, in which further actions like zooming, selection of start or destination can be chosen. A click with the right mousebutton zooms out. The symbols above the map mean: Back to last map image Forward to next map image Re-load the map Zoom a window by holding the left mousebutton Move the map by holding the right mousebutton Show a legend Print the map Help Opens the map in a new (fullscreen) window. You can use all functions in connection with the forms from there as well. Close the map Input From or To Please enter the name of the city (please note that the system cannot use the English name Cologne. You must use Köln or simply K). You can preselect the category Station/Stop, Address or Point of Interest (POI) by clicking on the corresponding button. Select 'All': The KVB timetable information system works with an "automatic search function". You need not to specify whether your input is a station, an address or a Point of Interest. The program provides a list of possible matches out of the three categories. Via You can specify a station or stop which must be used as an intermediate stop during your trip. The waiting time sets the minimum time for the intermediate stop. Date and Time Please enter the date and the time for the trip. As time you might only type the full hour (e.g. 14 for 14.00). Don't use 'am' or 'pm' as time format (e.g. use 15.30 and not 3.30 pm). Connection You can change the search criteria for your trip (e.g. determine the walking speed at transfer stations) and specify which means of transport should be suspended from the route choice (Please hold the CTRL-Button if you want to select several items from the list). Tarrif The ticket helpdesk provides useful information for suitable ticket for the trip calculated - especially of interest if you travel in a group or make several trips per day. It might for example be advantageous to buy a 4-trip ticket or a group ticket or a daily ticket. Station Timetable Opens a folder to get detailed departure information for a station/stop. Search Now Starts the search process. The program will request further input if your input is not complete. Output Overview The program always calculates several trips. You can select for which trip the details are shown below (this also determines the content of printouts). Earlier Trip Calculates further trips before the first trip of the list. Later Trip Calculates further trips after the last trip of the list. Last Trip Calculates the last trip of the day. 1. Trip (2. Trip, ...) Shows the trip with all transfer points from start to destination. presents for walking parts of the trip walking directions and for Public Transport rides the intermediate stations. You can get further information (in German only) for Points of Interest. Return trip Opens a new form in which start and destination are exchanged. Connecting Trip Opens a new form in which the destination of this trip is already used as the start of the next trip. Print Provides a printer friendly version of the screen content - including any maps and walking directions choosen.
